To be able to take on a free adventure around a realistic Tokyo is the strongest selling point of this title for Hong Kongers who love travelling to Japan. TOKYO JUNGLE is an survival action title developed by PlayStation C.A.M.P! You will not see bustling and crowded streets but a world where mankind has suddenly disappeared. From pet dogs, wild animals to various carnivorous and herbivorous animals, all have to strive for survival, and these are the animals that you play as. You won’t be eating ramen and sushi, but beast sashimi!
There are a Story Mode and a Survival Mode that supports online ranking. You can choose from over 50 kinds of animals in Survival Mode. There are four types of actions key to survival: first, you have to feed yourself. The Hunger Gauge drops as the animal moves around, and when it drops to 0, the Life Gauge drops. To recharge, you have to Hunt. Predators (Carnivorous animals) have to hunt other animals while Grazers (herbivorous animals) need to look for plants, mushrooms, flowers and fruits to fill their stomachs. Beware of attacks from other animals while you hunt, as you grasp the right timing to ambush your prey, such as hiding within grasses and taking a slow approach strategy, exactly like what you do in Metal Gear. You don’t need to book a hotel. You find a place to live and rest by occupying a Territory.
There are specific Marking Points within an area where you can mark. By finish marking all of the Marking Points, you can occupy the Territory and claim ownership to use as a nest. What’s next when you are fed and enjoying warmth ….? Animals have limited life; if you want to continue the play of course breeding is needed. Just take the female you spotted within the base to your place then you can change the generations. No pillow talk required, easy done. Finally you have to raise your level by accumulating calories from food to evolve from ROOKIE to VETERAN, and eventually to BOSS. The level of female animals that you manage to mate with changes as your level rises. It’s a practical thing: all for stronger offsprings. Work hard!
You can also challenge other opponents with the above survival actions to obtain survival points. The points do not only earn your way through the online ranking, but also take care of everyone’s shopping desire in Tokyo: You can purchase costumes for your animals. With these costumes, your animals can appear cooler, cuter or more authoritative. Different costumes have different functions, such as preventing you from running into enemies or raising speed. Some animals can be unlocked with survival points. If you want to be a lion, the king of the beast, you have to work hard! One last point to note, there are dinosaurs!
The game develops along a story in Story Mode, in which you also have to fight for survival. In this mode you can follow stories of different animals, look for different Archives in the map, all for the sake of unraveling the mystery behind the disappearance of mankind!
